Google Terms of Service

Some time ago I spoke with Maladar about how blogger (or blogspot) behaves and critizised heavily how I can't easily modify certain parts of the html.

I've had these dreams of my own customized blog system, running on my own server, but the expenses have been too much for me. Last week, Maladar gave me some links and I started to think this own server/own blog -thing again, and for some reason, I ended up reading Google Terms of Service for blog(ger/spot).

There was something that looked bit weird:

11. Content licence from you

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

11.2 You agree that this licence includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organisations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.

11.3 You understand that Google, in performing the required technical steps to provide the Services to our users, may (a) transmit or distribute your Content over various public networks and in various media; and (b) make such changes to your Content as are necessary to conform and adapt that Content to the technical requirements of connecting networks, devices, services or media. You agree that this licence shall permit Google to take these actions.

11.4 You confirm and warrant to Google that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the above licence.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I give nearly all rights of my material to Google, so is this the price of free blog hosting on a pretty reliable web system?

I haven't decided yet, so my updates about supercharger oil change, brake rebuilds and upgrades and (correct) installation of Pivot water temp gauge will have to wait.

A bit sticky situation. :(

Parts and service - part 16

Garage looks bit empty, AW11 has been driven outside and we're cleaning the floor.

I tried to enhance the text on the old timing belt, so the color is not real. The part number is 13568-16020 and it's made by PowerGrip.

After this I got bored and went to Lapland.

Parts and service - part 15

There was some celebration after the engine was ready. We built the the front bumper and after that we were ready to lower the car and drive it out.

I took the old PIAA nuts off and used my shiny new WedsSport lock nut set.

Parts and service - part 14

Maladar wields the +4 Blessed SST of Toyota. Makes 3D6 of damage and is a two-handed weapon.

Using SST to get proper tightening torque for the crank bolt.

Parts and service - part 13

We gave a codename to the SST.

Crank is now installed, still without proper tightening.

Parts and service - part 12

Ok, timing belt installed, some belt covers installed and other things. Looks a bit more like a car again.

At the bottom, Maladar installing the crank pulley.

Parts and service - part 11

After the long day, we drive back to home.

We found this sticker under the car, for the parking brake adjustment.

Parts and service - part 10

Me and Maladar, getting things done.

Well not really. We were really tired and there was still lots to do.

Ended up just taking funny pictures.

Parts and service - part 9

Engine at the top dead center, as you can see the notch inside the oil filler.

Below that, old and new timing belt idler pulleys. Mine was broken, so I luckily had bought a new one. New is the blue one.

And some engine pictures, thermostat installed and at the time, wondering the timing belt installation.

Parts and service - part 8

Thermostat housing opened and engine without intercooler.

Some part numbers, Maladar's hands and the temp sensor for cluster gauge.

Parts and service - part 7

The main problem. On the left, the new thermostat. On the right, the old one.

I had been pretty sure that the thermostat in the car was stuck open, until I read about the most common problem with the thermostat, which was being stuck closed :D

Then I realized that there might not be any thermostat inside the housing, for some reason. It didn't occure to me, that the thermostat could break like this :)

Parts and service - part 6

Timing marks aligned correctly everywhere.

Engine without crank pulley and lower timing belt covers.

Parts and service - part 5

Ok, well, what now... we went to a local hardware shop and bought some tube and plates. Maladar did something magical again and voilá! There was a Toyota SST to loosen the crank pulley bolt.

I on the other hand went for a ready product and bought a pulley puller. Later Maladar told me, that the pulley came out really easy, just a hint of teflon spray and that was it.

(I thought that the pulley would have been the hardest part, most of the pulley articles in the internet are full of swearing how the pulley is stuck and the SST is expensive)

Parts and service - part 4

Crank pulley looks chipped? Or is it just for balancing?

Engine is being supported to get the right side engine mount off. I've heard that some people just slip the new timing belt by the engine mount and then attach it again, to minimize the time needed to support the engine.
